NEWRA Monthly Meeting

The next North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 7 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center. NEWRA will not meet during the month of August.

Carousel Coloring Book

The Greenway will launch its Carousel Coloring Book on Friday, June 29 from 2-4 PM at the Carousel. Meet the author Jeffrey Briggs. The book features the Carousel creatures.

Eliot Portfolio Reader Program

The Eliot K-8 Innovation School in Boston’s North End brought its 8th graders together with community professionals for its annual Portfolio Reading Program. As they prepare for high school, the 8th graders shared their Eliot journey, showing who they are across multiple disciplines.

Benefit Pizza Festival

The Boston Pizza will host its second annual Pizza Festival at City Hall Plaza on July 7-8 to support the ABCD’s Summer Works Program.

Abutters Meeting Regarding Starbucks

In abutters meeting, relating to Starbucks opening on Hanover Street, will be held tonight, Thursday, June 28 at 6 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center.

Two other meetings will be held at NEWNC’s monthly meeting July 9 and NEWRA’s monthly meeting July 12 both at 7 PM, also in the Nazzaro Center.

Public Safety Monthly Meeting

The next District A1 Boston Police monthly North End public meeting will be held on Thursday, July 5, at 6 p.m. in the Nazzaro Community Center.

The next North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) monthly meeting will be held on Monday, July 9, at 7 p.m. in the Nazzaro Community Center.

FOCCP Monthly Meeting

The next Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) monthly meeting will be held in the Mariners House, 11 North Square, 2nd Floor on Thursday, July 10.

Mayor’s Garden Contest

The Mayor’s 2018 Garden Contest is underway. Applications and a photo can be sent to: Mayor Walsh’s Garden Contest, Boston Parks & Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02118. Deadline is July 11.

NEMPAC Presents Free Concert Series

North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC presents free Summer Concert Series on The Greenway during the month of July every Tuesday starting July 10 through the 31st.

Jazz in the Park:

  • July 10-Scanzonati.
  • July 17- Marco Pignataro.
  • July 24-Receita DeSamba.
  • July 31- Dirty Water Brass Band.

Weekly Block Parties and on The Greenway

The Boston Calling Block Parties series at Dewey Square Park on The Greenway kicks off. Block Parties are free and open to all every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. all summer long with games, music, and beer and wine for purchase.

Boston Public Market Returns

The Boston Public Market at Dewey Square returns to The Greenway with popular farmers market full of fresh and local foods. Purchase produce, flowers, and baked goods from over 20 local producers on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

NEAA Golf Tournament

The annual North End Athletic Association (NEAA) benefit golf tournament will be held on Monday, August 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Andover Country Club. For details contact Louis Cavagnaro at 617-523-7410.

Lawn Games at Columbus Park

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) will conduct lawn games from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 through Saturday, August 25.

Mayor’s Coffee Hour planned

This year’s Mayor Martin Walsh and Boston Parks and Recreation Department 19, annual neighborhood Coffee Hour will be held at Christopher Columbus Park on Thursday, June 28 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Toddler Yoga

Boston Community Collaborations is offering Toddler Yoga at the Nazzaro Community Center on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with caretakers. For details call 617-635-5611.

Horticulture Volunteers Needed for FOCCP

The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park are looking for people interested in maintaining the roses and gardens of Christopher Columbus Park. The group meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m., every Thursday 8:30 a.m. and every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Rose Garden. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary, all tools and training are provided. For details email Robyn at [email protected].

 

2018 Events at Columbus Park

The friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) have announced their 2018 schedule at the park. All events are free and open to the public.

  • Saturday, June 30 through August 25, 12 to 4 p.m., Lawn Games.
  • Sunday, July 22 through August 26, Dusk Sunday Night Movies.

Free English Classes Offered

Free English Classes are being offered at the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center, 1 Michelangelo Street. Open enrollment. Classes include education and career advising. Details are available by calling 617-523-8125 or email [email protected].

FONE Bocce at Skating Rink

Friends of the North End Bocce will continue through the winter months every Sunday morning at the Steriti Rink indoor courts. Spectators are welcome to attend. Spring/Summer tournaments will begin in late May.
