NE/WE NSC Accepting Food Program Donations

Donations are being accepted through June 30 to support the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center’s food programs that assist needy neighbors in these communities.

NSC and the West End Library are accepting: Monetary donations, restaurant and supermarket gift certificates, nonperishable food items. Especially needed: pasta, tuna, oatmeal, peanut butter, cooking oil and corn.

NEWNC Community Election

The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) community elections will be held Saturday, May 19 from 10 AM to 2 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street.

NEAD Scholarships

North End Against Drugs (NEAD) is now accepting applications for the 2018 Raymond and Michelina Costa Scholarships for North End residents. Deadline is Tuesday, May 8. For details call 617-605-6142.

NSC Mother’s Day Party

NEAA Golf Tournament

NEMPAC Production at Faneuil Hall

Independence Day Celebration at Columbus Park

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) will hold an Independence Day Celebration with fireworks on Boston Harbor from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, June 30.

Lawn Games at Columbus Park

Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) will conduct lawn games from noon to 4 PM on Saturday, June 30 through Saturday, August 25.

Mayor’s Coffee Hour planned

This year’s Mayor Martin Walsh and Boston Parks and Recreation Department 19th annual neighborhood Coffee Hour will be held at Christopher Columbus Park on Thursday, June 28 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

NEWRA Monthly Meeting Scheduled

North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, May 10 at 7 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center.

Fields and Mae at     N.E. Library

Friends of the North End Library will present a live production of W.C. Fields and Mae West by Delvena Theatre Group on Wednesday, May 12 at 6:30 PM.

Bookstore Day

On the last Saturday, April 28, I Am Books, North Street will celebrate Independent Bookstore Day, a nation-why event with kids’ activities, book signing, giveaways, food and drink.

Horticulture Volunteers Needed for FOCCP

The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park are looking for people interested in maintaining the roses and gardens of Christopher Columbus Park. The group meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m., every Thursday 8:30 a.m. and every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Rose Garden. Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary, all tools and training are provided. For details email Robyn at [email protected].

Glow in the Park

Glow in the Park returns for its fourth year on Friday, June 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.  A signature event in downtown Boston, Glow takes place on the beautiful Greenway and includes favorite Greenway Food Trucks, local brews, great wines, and live entertainment. Kick-off the summer with an evening of dancing, lawn games, and lounging in the park!

Mark your calendars! Tickets go on sale in early April.

The friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) have announced their 2018 schedule at the park. All events are free and open to the public.

  • Saturday, May 5, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tot Lot Cleanup.
  • Saturday, June 10, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Independence Day Celebration, Fireworks on Boston Harbor.
  • Saturday, June 30 through August 25, 12 to 4 p.m., Lawn Games.
  • Sunday, July 22 through August 26, Dusk Sunday Night Movies.

Police Public Safety Meeting

The next Boston Police Public Safety meeting will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 6 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center.

North End Friends of St. Francis Flea Market/Bake Sale

North End Friends of St. Francis House will hold its annual Flea Market and Bake Sale for the St. Francis Homeless Shelter in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street on Friday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Spare change will also be accepted.

Greenway Gala    SET FOR June 7

The 2018 Greenway Gala will be held on Thursday, June 7 at 6 p.m. in the park. Tickets will go on sale in April. For details visit the Greenway website.

FONE Bocce at Skating Rink

Friends of the North End Bocce will continue through the winter months every Sunday morning at the Steriti Rink indoor courts. Spectators are welcome to attend. Spring/Summer tournaments will begin in late May.

Steriti Skating Rink in Boston’s North End will be the site of the Boston Lyric Opera’s presentation, Travel in Tahiti, and Arias and Barcarolles newly combined into one harmonious work with marriage, dreams and disillusionment from May 11 to May 20.
