NEWRA Supports Endicott Street/Jerusalem Place Proposals

By Phil Orlandella

Just before members of the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) enjoyed their fall party, the non-profit group discussed and voted on two agenda items related to Endicott Street and Jerusalem Place.

The Council voted to support a request by the owner or 180 Endicott Street to change the occupancy from three residential units to four residential units.

The third and fourth floors have been used as one unit without being connected, and the plan calls for it to become two units.

Each apartments will have one-bedroom, no floor area will be added. One bathroom will be added to provide one in each unit.

Plans show no change to Unit 1, a new kitchen in Unit 2, addition of a bathroom, new kitchen and new bedroom in Unit 4.

Plans to erect three similar five-story brick buildings, side-by-side (under 55 feet) at 5, 7 and 9 Jerusalem Place were supported by the Council.

Development will be on an existing parking lot.

Each building will contain two duplex residential units and two ground level parking spaces. There will be no roof decks or balconies.
