Minimum Wage Increase Will Benefit over a Million Workers

Legislation to gradually raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2021 will benefit 1.1 million workers in the state, or 33 percent of the workforce.

Currently the minimum wage is $11 per hour.

Reportedly, 91 percent of workers who will be affected are 20-year-olds or older, 55 percent are women and 58 percent work full-time.

Workers who are paid low wages include highly skilled professionals, like nursing assistants, children providers, paramedics and educators.

Once the minimum wage increases to$15 dollars per hour, it could be adjusted to rise at the same rate as the cost of living.

Raising the minimum wage to $15 dollars will help those affected to meet the needs of many, in a time when costs are extremely high and it’s not easy to provide for a family or individuals to live a prosperous life.

The minimum wage increase is not the “Save All” but it’s a great start towards making things a little better to get by on.
