Old North Church congregation and friends came out to honor Rev. Stephen T. Ayres and his 20th Anniversary as Vicar of the Old North Church in Boston’s North End. Steve also serves as Executive Director of the Old North Foundation, the cultural arm of the historic landmark property.

Stories were told, roasts were made and Steve’s work was praised as both the leader of Old North’s Episcopal church congregation and the Foundation’s mission for the iconic revolutionary landmark that hosts several hundred thousand visitors each year.

A proclamation was read from Mayor Walsh proclaiming November 6th as “Steve Ayres Day” in the City of Boston. Rep. Aaron Michlewitz also presented a citation from the Massachusetts State House in honor of the 20th Anniversary. Speaking from the Episcopal diocese were Bishop Alan Gates and Bishop Gail Harris along with congregation members Woodie Haskins, Hon. Carol Ball, Sr. Warden Jane Olszewski and Jr. Warden Christine Clements and Old North Foundation Chair Anne Bailey Berman. Steve was joined at the celebration by his wife, Lisa and son, Matthew.
