Mayor Guest Speaker at NEAD Family Dinner/Talk

By Phil Orlandella

North End Against Drugs (NEAD) will hold its first Family Dinner/Family Talk of the school year featuring Mayor Martin J. Walsh as the guest speaker.

The Mayor spoke at NEAD’s Drug Awareness Day last year. “He was unbelievable with all of the students from St. John and the Eliot Schools,” NEAD President John Romano said. “NEAD is extremely grateful to have him speak again to our families.”

A fabulous Italian dinner will be served followed by the Mayor’s presentation.

The community event, at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street will be held on Monday, November 21 at 6 pm.

It is open to North End residents, Nazzaro Center members, North End Athletic Association (NEAA) members, NEAD sponsors and volunteers. Space is limited so potential attendees need to contact [email protected] to guarantee a seat.

Parents and grandparents are invited along with their children. Those 15 and over can attend without a parent if they have permission.

“NEAD would like to have a full house for the family event and to hear the Mayor’s presentation,” Romano said. “I hope to see a good turnout for this wonderful event.”

New winter hats and gloves will be collected for the homeless at the event, which will be donated to St. Francis Homeless Shelter.
