Let’s Talk Trash…. Pick-Up That Is

Even though the City of Boston Public Works Department still has two years left on its trash and recycle removal contract, they should be thinking about holding a public meeting in the North End well before the contracts expire.

Some residents are expressing concerns about the way the system runs, especially the recycling program, which apparently continues to pick up later and later each day.

Many suggestions and questions popped up at a recent North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) monthly public meeting with a Public Works representative who promised to bring the residents message to City Hall.

Currently there are two trash collection days and one recycling pick-up day in the community.

Reportedly, recycling pick-up is up seventeen percent in the North End and adjacent areas.

While not all residents produced a negative response, it would be wise to deal with the situation earlier than later.
