Villa Michelangelo Apartments held a festive gathering to commemorate its 15th anniversary at the site of the former Michelangelo Junior High School.
This partnership includes ABCD/North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center, East Boston Community Development Association and North End/Waterfront Health.
The project originally founded in the mid-1990s with the demise of rent control that left more than 900 elderly, handicapped and disabled people vulnerable to soaring rents.
A proposal to develop 71 units of HUD 202 funds (elderly) housing at the old Michelangelo Junior High School was chosen from nine applications to develop approximately 79 units in the North End at the former public school.
Special guests Representative Aaron Michlewitz, spoke on the great achievement to successfully turn the school into a valuable asset for seniors and the North End.
The afternoon flew by as residents, friends and community partners ate, danced, laughed and reminisced marking this special occasion.
