Price A Valuable NSC Volunteer

After leaving the workforce and seeking a meaningful way to fill her time, 11-year North End resident Susan Price decided to volunteer at the North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center. This is her fourth year as a volunteer.

Previously, Susan worked for 25 years at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center as a Unit Coordinator. At the Center, she helped out daily by doing things like filing, answering the phones and performing general office work.

Each morning, Susan opens the center at 8am and prepares coffee for the clients. In addition, she assists with the hot meal program on Mondays and Fridays and helps give out food to pantry clients.

She also accompanies clients or North End residents to doctor appointments and runs errands for them when they are sick.

“I love it here, the organization is so good,” she says repeatedly according to the Center’s Newsletter.

“You (the Center) help everyone, I have never seen anybody turned away and everyone is treated with dignity and respect,” she said. “I also like the fact that I can use some of my skills here,” she concluded.
