It appears that there is going to be a lengthily battle between Waterfront residents and the developer (JW Partners) to build a hotel on Lewis Wharf.
A large throne of opponents filled the Nazzaro Community Center gym to express both opposition and support, especially by union representatives.
The public meeting, organized by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA), which will ultimately make the final decision on the project some time down the road.
While the official comment period is over, that doesn’t mean the system has ended, there is much more to go.
It didn’t help the developer when the three local elected officials, Senator Anthony Petrucelli, Representative Aaron Michlewitz and Councilor Sal LaMattina in a letter form opposed the project as proposed.
The project actually takes an area that is blatant and turns it into a beautiful area with some public space and access to the harbor.
However, opponents believe the project is to massive, blocks the harbor view, creates traffic problems and noise problems.
The developer claims the project would beautify the area with green public space, create off street parking, many construction jobs and permanent jobs.
The question here, is there any room for compromise between both parties or is this proposal cast in stone, setting the stage for legal action.
