For the second time in less than a week, a request by Nicholas D’Amore to change the legal occupancy at 92-94 Salem Street to construct a five story residential building at 3 Wiget Street was opposed.

This time NEWNC oppose the request by a 4-2 vote. Once again trash storage and removal was the sticking point.

Plans called for increasing the premises to eleven units and one commercial space by adding five one bedroom units with a trash area space of 6×8 feet for the eleven units.

The trash area is an addition to plans presented to the North End/Waterfront Residents Association (NEWRA) which also opposed the plans for the same reason.

A request by Joseph Pace to allow for parking on his property was supported by a 5-1 vote. Plans call for 25 paid spaces, lighting, a new fence and security.

Pat Coppola received NEWNC support to extend the living area in unit one at 2 Michelangelo Street into the basement area. No construction is associated with plans with no changes to the existing condition of the unit that has been used for several years.

NEWNC will celebrate its 30th Anniversary on Tuesday, October 6 at Filippo’s Ristorante.

Due to the Columbus Day Holiday, NEWRA has rescheduled its monthly meeting from Monday, October 5.
