R.U.F.F. September Newsletter

September is here…fall is on the way… One of the best seasons for pups! Cool, crisp and lots of fun. Also a time where many new neighbors move to the North End – help RUFF recruit new members by sharing our email – [email protected] and spreading the word about the new dog park.

Richmond Street dog run has lighting. MassDOT has expanded the space and overnight lighting has been added. With shorter days coming the lights are a wonderful addition. We thank MassDOT for their support and generosity!

RUFF members continue to generously donate. This organization only survives with support. Anyone interested in donating please visit our web page -  http://www.ruffboston.org/

Pilgrim Parking, the parking garage abutting the new dog park is making some updates and renovations. Scaffolding going up along the wall at the far end of the large dog area. This construction will take approximately 10 weeks. This will vastly improve the look of the wall and garage abutting the park.

North End Dog Park Updates:

The RUFF team is working very hard with the City of Boston on the next steps for the park, looking for more detailed information to share with members by the end of the month. RUFF continues to talk to neighbors (dog owners and non) and are delighted by how positive the response to the park is.

As a reminder since this park is not yet a permanent version so water is not provided. Members, need to supply water. Empty containers need to be filled everyday. The fountain located near the tot lot now has a spout. This is one of the items that will be added with an official park.

Responsible owners are keeping the park clean! Power washing takes place once a month in the morning. The parks maintenance department is working hard to keep the trash barrels emptied in a timely manner.

Volunteers  are helping RUFF’s Board keep this park safe and locked each night. The park locked in the evenings for the safety of the members and the park. The park is back open and in pristine condition. RUFF is looking to install automatic locks so that it will be more consistent on the park hours.

Interested in helping with locking/unlocking also RUFF still needs volunteers to help out. [email protected].
