A Ban on Space Savers Should Be Implemented

A ban on space savers is being supported by many community groups including the North End/Waterfront Residents Association (NEWRA) and the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC).

While there is no ordinance that allows space savers in the city of Boston, the Mayor actually makes the decision for it to happen and when it must be stopped.

Space saves not only create snowplowing efforts and at times presents problems with neighbors, like arguments and damage to vehicles.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh is not the first mayor to allow space savers and his intentions were honorable, however many residents want it to stop and he should listen to them.

Finding parking spaces in the North End is a major problem and will continue to be so without providing a free 24-hour spaces that no one else can use.

To our knowledge, there are no cities and/or towns through the country that allows this to occur.

Space savers create more problems than solutions
