Support Gun Offender Registration Bill

Legislation has been filed by Representative Aaron Michlewitz that would create a statewide gun offender registry list that would require defendants convicted of specific gun crimes to register their addresses with the police and verify them every six months.

In addition, they must notify the police if they change their addresses for a period of time following the conviction or incarceration.

Like the Representative, the Review feels the legislation will help bring gun crimes down and it will prevent repeat offenders from committing more acts of violence.

Getting guns, especially  illegal firearms, off the streets is paramount in the prevention of crime.

If the bill gets scheduled for a hearing, residents should show support for the legislation.
