Vote No on Question 3
This November 14, Massachusetts will be voting to elect a new Governor and other state officials.
There are also several referendum questions on the ballot including a move to abolish gambling in the state which will obviously affect proposed casinos from operating in the Commonwealth.
Question 3 has the ability to stop the state, cities and towns from obtaining much-needed revenues that could be put to good use.
No casinos means loss of many construction jobs, part-time and full-time jobs and loss of revenue for businesses that will serve casinos in one way or another. This also means loss of tax revenues as well.
Revenue from casinos will help repair bridges, repair streets and sidewalks, replace damaged lighting, construct or repair public spaces and much more.
A No vote on Question 3 will bolster the economy in many ways.
MassDOT/BRA Central Artery Ramp Parcel public meeting
A Central Artery Ramp Parcel Study second public meeting has been scheduled by MassDOT and the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) to consider options for covering the open ramp portion of the Artery/Tunnel Parcels 6, 12 and 18.
An update will be provided on the current and planned study activities, present information on existing conditions and the potential development options.
This meeting will offer the public an opportunity to provide input on the potential alternatives for the ramp parcels located along the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway.
If residents want to have a say in the process they should attend the public meeting on Tuesday, September 30 from 6-8pm at the BRA Board Room, City Hall, 9th Floor.
Boston Harbor Church celebrates 30th
Congratulations to the Boston Harbor Community Church on Salutation Street which has celebrated its 30th anniversary of service to the North End and surrounding neighborhoods.
Besides the church’s Masses they coordinate many other events and activities on a regular basis and they are always ready to assist other community organizations when possible.
