A major sewer and drain improvement project is being planned in the North End by the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC), according to Irene F. McSweeny, P.E. Director of Construction.

She outlined the three phase project at the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) monthly meeting and will do the same at the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) August meeting.

Several North End streets will be repaired from 2014 to 2015 with pipe replacement, excavated repair, non-excavated point repair and liner repair.

McSweeny noted that an exact schedule, time and locations is currently being planned and the neighborhood would be notified.

BWSC will coordinate parking for residents, reroute street traffic, advise residents of possible water turnoffs, work with the Department of Public Works (DPW) on scheduling conflicts, repair all sidewalks and repave streets as each phase has been completed.

BWSC plans to go door to door before each street is scheduled for repairs or improvements.
