Neighborhood Committee Discusses Four Agenda Items

Two legal occupancy changes were discussed at the last NEWRA Zoning, Licensing and Construction Committee meeting held at the Mariners House, 11 North Square.

Updates on redevelopment projects in the Haymarket/North Station areas were also on the agenda.

The owner of 6 Foster Street is proposing to change the legal occupancy from three to four apartments by adding a new fourth floor. Expanding the first floor unit into the basement is also part of the proposal.

Filomania Falcucci has filed a zoning appeal to change the legal occupancy at 37 Charter Street by splitting her four bedroom, 3,000 square foot residential unit to two, two bedroom units.

Public participation of the latest plans to develop at the Boston Garden, West End Garage, Government Center Garage, 100 Nashua Street, One Canal, the Merano, Lovejoy Wharf and Parcel 9 was also discussed at the public meeting.

The committee apparently planned for their next steps for providing NEWRA input into a Home Rule Petition that calls for the State to allow the Licensing Board for the City of Boston to control licensing requests and number instead of the legislature.

The committee will file a report on three items at NEWRA monthly meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 12 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
