57 Snow Hill St. Request Denied by Appeals Bd.

A request by James Ferrara to expand the existing roof-top head house at 57 Snow Hill Street was denied by the City of Boston Board of Appeal.

Numerous abutters turned out to oppose the proposal for several reasons.

The proposal called for an increase of living space from 52 to 245 square feet. Plans also called for the installation of a 42 inch railing along the roof deck.

Reportedly, the building would remain at 52 feet 8 inches and the addition would not impede any view, airflow or light access.

Both the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) by a single vote and the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) supported the request.
