North End Resident

Pietro Trombetta of Boston’s North End died on June 25. He was 86 years old.

He was the cherished son of the late Maria (DeSantis) and Domenico Trombetta; loving husband of Gilda (Indiciani) Trombetta; beloved brother of Concetta “Connie” Tarantelli, Marco Trombetta, Dora Almonte, and Silvia Sanelli and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kathleen Carlino

Of Medford, formerly of the North End

Kathleen M. (Rooney) Carlino of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on June 20.

She was the cherished daughter of Claire (Donovan) Rooney of Medford and the late David J. Rooney; wife of Michael Carlino of the North End; beloved sister of David Rooney of Medford, Deborah Neary and her husband, James of Everett, Kevin Rooney and his wife, Erin of Boston; loving aunt of Patrick, Ashleigh, Katherine, Abigail, and Bridgette Neary, Brendan Rooney and Angela Carlino and is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Funeral arrangements were by the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Albert Meola of Somerville, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on June 24,

The beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Melino) Meola, he was the longtime companion of Carmella Ciampa of Boston’s North End; devoted father of Vincent Meola and his wife, Cheryl of Tewksbury, Al Meola Jr. and his wife, Sheila of Somerville; dear brother of Antoinette Petrucelli of Medford, Angela Paone of California and the late Louis, Armando and Helen Meola and Adeline Cortese. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Past Commander of North End Post 144 VFW

Anthony P. Bocchino of Medford, formerly of the North End of Boston, died on June 24. He was 87 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II and a Lifetime Member and Past Commander of the North End VFW Post 144, he was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Puccia); loving father of Pamela D’Andrea, Nina Doucette and Marina Russo; dear grandfather of Nicole, Mark and Michael D’Andrea and great-grandfather of Luke D’Andrea; brother of Frank Bocchino and the late John Bocchino.

Giovanni Crognale of Malden, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on June 21.

A 54-year member of Bricklayers Local 3, he was the beloved husband of Carmela (Federico); devoted father of Maria Domenica Crognale and her husband, Antonio of Florence, Italy and Richie Crognale of Malden;loving grandfather of Alberto; dear brother of Cleto of Newtonville and his late wife, Adelia, Carlo and his wife, Linda of Medford and Loretta of Italy and her late husband, Giuseppe and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
