Michelena ‘Mickey’ D’Iorio

Of Haverhill, formerly of the North End

Michelena “Mickey” D’Iorio of Haverhill, a former longtime resident of Boston’s North End, died February 17 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was 86 years old.

The daughter of the late Rosa (Solimine) Lo Russo and the late Saverio Lo Russo, she was the beloved wife of the late Gennaro J. D’Iorio and mother of the late Gennaro G. D’Iorio; sister of Madeline Pisari of Medford, the late Teresa Comeau of Boston, and the late Anthony Lo Russo of Oregon and aunt to many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church in the North End, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Arrangements were entrusted to the Boston Harborside Home, Boston.

Gaspare ‘Gus’ Peracchi

Of Malden, formerly of the North End

Gaspare “Gus” Peracchi of Malden, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on February 20.

A proud veteran of World War II, he was the son of the late Celeste and Maria (Cardinale) Peracchi and brother of the late Elena D’Amato, he is survived by his beloved wife, Lena (Venuti) Peracchi of Malden, his loving daughter, Maria, and her husband, Thomas Schonhoff, of Shrewsbury; his  cherished grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Amy, Stephen, Andrea and her husband, Frank Mendillo, and loving great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Melissa, Lily, Zachary, Jake and Kayla.

Funeral arrangements were by the Boston Harborside Home, North End of Boston. Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Leondina Zaccheo

Stoneham resident

Leondina (DeSimone) Zaccheo of Stoneham, formerly of Medford, died on February 15. She was 90 years old.

Born and raised in Mirabella, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Bernadino and the late Angelina (DiPietro) DeSimone. As a young woman she came to the United States and lived in Boston’s North End. She worked in the clothing industry as a seamstress until her marriage.

She was the beloved wife of the late Attilio P. Zaccheo; devoted mother of Emily Viselli and her husband, Joe, of Stoneham; loving grandmother of Nicole B. and Brendan J. Viselli; sister of the late Josephine Causa and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford. Entombment was at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in her name to the Founders Affiliate of American Heart Association , PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Ralph Gulla

Of Medford, formerly of the North End

Ralph G. Gulla of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on February 17.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was the beloved husband of Nancy M. (McGonagle), the devoted father of MaryAnn Richard and her husband, Brian, of Boxford, Gayle Gulla of Manchester, NH, Linda Bongiorno of Tewksbury and her late husband, Richie, and Christine Gulla of Medford; loving grandfather of Joey Tusa, Freddie and Nicholas DeAngelo, Ashley Tusa, Mackenzie Dubuc, Bianca Bongiorno and Richie Bongiorno III; brother of Grace Marciello of Revere, Marie Luongo and her husband, Sonny, of Medford, the late Theresa Guerra, Helen Mignosa, Jennie Noto, Tony, Josephine and Rose Gulla. He is also survived by many extended family members and cherished friends.
