Saturday’s rain

When the first rain in weeks finally fell Saturday afternoon, it came in a magnificent torrent.

That rain caused the dried up grass, bushes and flowers to rejoice.

The streets were swept clean of soot and dust.

Everything was soaked and cooled off at the same time.

In many neighborhoods there were floods and sewage back-ups.

For the most part, however, the rain was almost joyously welcomed.

This week, we’re back to the heat and humidity.

Such is the weather during this largely sunny and hot summer of 2010.
